What's On My Pinterest Board

Hello hello hello! Today, to ease myself back into writing and blogging much more frequently, I decided to go easy on myself. This is the beginning of a weekly segment called "What's On My Pinterest Board" *queue applause and loud screams from invisible audience.*

Every week, I'm going to post some of the more inspirational, comical, and fashion oriented pins I have lying around ( eventually I'll clean out THAT closet...). So here we go!

I'll always be with you! How utterly beautiful ❤️❤️
- I've grown up with the nickname Pooh from my maternal grandparents all of my life (and a bit before I came out singing Broadway tunes). So anything that has anything to do Winnie the Pooh, I'm automatically obsessed. On top of that, the words in the saying are so significant to not only others, but for myself. Half the time I feel like I am completely out of my mind, so this is a great thing to remind myself to bring me back to the cold hard ground. Those days I feel so out of control and fearing for what the days carry, I try to remind myself that I am strong, brave, courageous, and kind. Qualities that nobody can take away from me. I will always hold this extremely close and personal to my heart.

-I am so in love with trying new recipes and culture foods, so that's all I REALLY need to say about this....right?

- If I could find one quote in the entire history of language to say to people that doubt themselves, it would be this. When you feel insecure, hurt, or unsure of everything and everyone around you, remember this please. YOU ARE A BEAUTIFUL AND AMAZING YOU

Best part is I already have everything to make this outfit, including my favorite fringe boots!
- Totally pining for that cardigan, guys....Actually it's more like longingly gazing...

- BEANIES. ARE. AMAZING. There's no explanation for this except beanies. I need lot's of them to survive. Bows as well. Lots of bows.

Until next time Sweethearts!

XOXO,
Jessica.

Rebels With A Cause

All I've ever heard from the older generations is that my generation "will never surpass what the generations have done before you." Though, that's not true is it? I'm a firm believer in politics, science, and God. I have faith in my generation that we will rise and fight for what we believe is right, like the generations before us. That we will be our own makers in the upcoming rebellion to ensure all are made equal.

One belief that plays in my mind when  others bring up standing behind a cause is that we all ARE standing behind one, just that each individual is waiting for someone else to get the ball rolling so you can join in. But why must we wait for someone else to start the revolution when all the power rest inside each and every one of us? Why must you wait for someone else when you can BE that someone who starts the path to making a difference?

I am the change that I want to see in the world because I am a key ingredient to the recipe of making a difference.

So, next time you think "I want to help make a difference, but I don't see anyone else doing a thing about it", how about YOU do something about it. Whether it's via YouTube video, passing out flyers, or spreading the word on Facebook, just do something. Do something that will make your children and grandchildren proud, so when you tell them about how you stood up when nobody else would, they will look at you in amazement. So they look at you like the rebel and hero that you are.

So tell me, what's the word?

Stay Fabulous.

XOXO

Sick Therapy

SO....it's been awhile since I've been on here. Oops.

Anyways, I know I'm not the only one who has a ritual for when they get sick. Things that always seem to make you feel better, which in turn makes you not sick. Mine?

Stereotypical Illness

The first thing people think of when the hear "mental illness", the two words bounce around in their heads and imagine "crazy." Schizophrenia, depression, bipolar disorder, and Post-Traumatic Stress disorder are all well known and considered common mental illnesses. The uncommon ones, though, that people don't like to being "mental" often: eating disorders and self harm. Why is that? Because most assume that eating disorders and self harm are illnesses we choose to inflict on ourselves. That, however, is not the case.

Statistics:

• Almost 50% of people with eating disorders meet the criteria for depression.
• Only 1 in 10 men and women with eating disorders receive treatment.
• Only 35% of people that receive treatment for eating disorders get treatment at a specialized facility for eating disorders.
• Up to 24 million people of all ages and genders suffer from an eating disorder (anorexia, bulimia and binge eating disorder) in the U.S.• Eating disorders have the highest mortality rate of any mental illness.

  • Each year, 1 in 5 females and 1 in 7 males engage in self injury.
  • Nearly 50 percent of those who engage in self injury activities have been sexually abused.
  • About 50 percent of those who engage in self mutilation begin around age 14 and carry on into their 20s.
  • Many of those who self injure report learning how to do so from friends or pro self injury websites.
  • Approximately two million cases are reported annually in the U.S.

  • What people don't seem to grasp, is that little voice in our heads that guides us can only just be a ray of sunshine steering us away from bad decisions, but also the voice that forces us to make the worst mistakes. When one is already insecure, susceptible, or linked to another mental illness, that voice takes on a whole new dark and persistent tone. You quickly hear a change from "you look beautiful" to "you'll never be good enough". And when that's repeated in your own mind, day-in and day-out, you become desperate to not just get the voices out, but to do whatever you have to do to appease them. Then slowly, you just start to believe and accept the things they say to be true. Because who else knows you better than yourself.

To anyone who's going through or has been through hard times and/or any mental illness, I've been there. I'm not going to lie and say the voice ever go away- mine never did. I still have those words in my head everyday. But I choose to not give in because I know I'm better than that and deserve much more.

But you deserve better, too. So much better, It's one hell of a fight, but you come out stronger. There will be days you just want to lock yourself away, but please don't. No matter what, you are a warrior, and can fight back with 100 times more strength. And when you're feeling like you have no one else to help you and take care of you, know that you'll always have someone on your side who will find you the most amazing. Me.

"I am me, and that's all that matters."

    XOXO

    Music and Exploring?

I've literally spent the last 6 hours putting new music (and old music) on my phone since I lost everything from my last phone going kaput. It's safe to say I have a MAJOR headache at the moment.

So, because I have spent all day so far inside, I think I am going to go out for a bit. Take in the fresh air. Just breathe.

Try it with me, and just explore. You might end up meeting a new you in the process.

    Stay Fabulous.
